Apprentice Machinist

My role at Belfield
I joined in April 2019 as an apprentice machinist alongside Tiffany Duke in Belfield Leisure, making the furnishings for our caravan and holiday parks customers. Having worked in factories for many years, I decided to start an apprenticeship to start upskilling myself.
Why I enjoy it
I have chosen this for me. Rather than start my apprenticeship straight from school, I’ve had a number of roles, so I have experience of what I didn’t want to do. I knew that I wanted to work in an industry that I was interested in. I love arts and crafts, so this was a natural fit for me.
This is the best place that I have ever worked in. Everyone is so helpful and friendly that it makes it easy to learn and feel a part of the team.
Variety of roles. Although I am specialising in machining, I have had the opportunity to work in different areas such as the cutting, marking and bundling and this has really helped me to build up my knowledge of the business which I’ve enjoyed.
